Description of Responsibilities: Hillside Children's Foundation has an opening for a full time Manager of Community Engagement and Special Events in Rochester, NY! The Manager of Community Engagement and Special Events shares responsibility for advancing the community relationships of Hillside Family of Agencies (HFA), primarily through the strategic development and tactical execution of a variety of one-time and recurring events that engage different community segments in HFA's work and mission.

Goals of these events vary, but most require a close alignment with the strategic priorities of HFA's philanthropic affiliate which include actively working with corporate and community prospects and event attendees to generate revenue in support of HFA affiliates and programs. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Helps set the community engagement and special events strategy each year, including determining the schedule of events and projected targets related to revenue/expense and community relations goals.
  • Actively and independently manages a growing pool of event and community prospects, determines appropriate strategies and targets for the solicitation and engagement of assigned targets and independently closes gifts and manages all aspects of the prospective relationship 
  • identification, cultivation, solicitation, close and stewardship 
  • for traditional gifts as well as for in-kind, third-party, and volunteer gifts to HFA.
  • Records all interaction and strategy information in the Raiser's Edge fundraising data-management system.
  • Develops plans, timelines and tactics for all Hillside-sponsored events and community relations activities, including responding to requests for new events and facilitating requests that align with HFA strategic priorities.
  • Oversees event committees, including the recruitment of members, developing and assigning solicitation plans, and ensuring committee members are responsible for their income targets.
  • Owns primary responsibility for planning and execution of the Hillside Gala, HFA's premier annual fundraising event.
  • Manages all internal and external relationships for the successful planning and execution of the seasonal Hillside Special Santa program, including daily operations, volunteer solicitation and cultivation, community partner engagement, supervision of three seasonal staff, management of budget, tracking and organization of donor information in Raiser's Edge, providing assistance to HFA service staff in determining gift need and implementing procedures for and management of Special Santa gift distribution to HFA services.
  • Using the Raiser's Edge system and GL reports from finance, tracks budget information (income and expense) for each event. Responsible for all event and Special Santa-related income and expense tracking, reporting and invoicing.
  • Manages and engages external partnerships and is responsible for all execution-related details of all third-party events and for managing relationships and recording interactions in Raiser's Edge for all phases of the development cycle.
  • Supports Development and Marketing departments by performing other duties as needed.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of events/fundraising experience are required. Raiser's Edge experience is highly desired. Applicants must have a valid NYS driver's license and must meet agency driving and insurance requirements.
