Description of Responsibilities: 
Position Title: Development Manager
Employment Type: Full Time
Job description: The Development Manager reports to the Library Director and has primary responsibility for all fundraising activities for the Victor Farmington Library. These activities include partnering with community volunteers to plan and execute an upcoming capital campaign, building on an annual campaign, donor prospecting and cultivation, and managing special events.


  • With the Director and volunteers, creates a strategic plan for the campaign and annual program plans outlining fundraising activity for the library
  • Plans, drafts, and executes letters, emails, donor correspondence, and other development communications
  • Participates and is involved in the design and implementation of the communications plan
  • Ensures the preparation and design of attractive and effective fundraising materials
  • Maintains ongoing communications with donors fostering positive feelings about the library
  • Personally solicits leadership gifts to the campaign, independently or in collaboration with volunteers
  • Provides support to volunteers who are engaged in cultivating, soliciting, and thanking donors
  • Oversees computerized donor database ensuring accuracy and timeliness of records
  • Records gifts and coordinates acknowledgment process 
  • Maintains accurate donor records and prepares reports on fundraising results 
  • Cultivates donors and prospects through volunteer coordination 
  • Writes applications for library construction grants 
  • Researches potential funding opportunities and assists the librarians with programmatic grant applications 
  • Assists in setting annual fundraising goals 
  • Prepares materials to promote planned giving 
  • Creates web and social media content to promote the Annual Fund and the campaign 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus 2-3 years of fundraising experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Self-motivated and proactive 
  • Good organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities 
  • Able to work occasional nights and weekends

Wages and Benefits Commensurate and negotiable with experience
