The Jill Pranger Scholarship for CFRE Certification

In 2006, Jill Pranger, Past President of AFP Genesee Valley, was honored with AFP Genesee Valley Chapter's Fundraising Executive of the Year Award. This same year, Jill also achieved Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE) designation, an advanced certification held by only 100 people in the world. The Jill Pranger Scholarship was established in honor of Jill, and her accomplishments, to encourage AFP professionals to pursue Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation. There will be one scholarship awarded during the program year. This scholarship will cover 50% of the CFRE Refresher Course cost, which is $390 for AFP members and $490 for non-members. The scholarship does not cover any portion of the exam fees.
Pranger Scholarship Applicant Criteria:
- Each applicant must have a minimum of 3 years experience in the fundraising field and must be a fundraising professional for a 501 (c)(3) organization.
- If a candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of his/her time must be devoted to fundraising (please state amount of time in writing).
- Only applicants in the greater Rochester area served by the AFP Genesee Valley Chapter are eligible to apply.
- Candidate applying for the scholarship is responsible for covering the difference in cost for the CFRE Refresher Course.
- AFP membership is not required, but preference will be given to AFP members.
- Applicants must submit:
1. A completed scholarship application. 2. A brochure or annual report which describes the applicant's organization.
3. A one-page letter (250 words or less) explaining why the candidate is applying for a scholarship. In this letter, please describe (a) Why you have decided to take the CFRE Refresher Course at this point in your career and what you expect to gain from the course (b) Besides the CFRE Refresher Course, describe your additional CFRE exam preparation plans.
All Pranger Scholars are encouraged to make a donation to the Pranger Fund through AFP Genesee Valley Chapter so that the Fund continues to grow and benefit others.
