Creating the Chemistry to Grow Your Endowment
Presenters: Nicholas Cintineo, CFA, CIPM - Manning & Napier, Senior Investment Consultant and Endowment Foundation Service Lead, and Marc Misiurewicz - Empreinte Consulting, CEO
Moderated by Nicole Kingsley Brunner - Manning & Napier, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer

We have taken the best ideas from the development (Empreinte) and investing (Manning & Napier) industries to develop a game plan for growing your organization’s endowment. As attendees will learn, there is tremendous opportunity today for endowed and legacy type giving, but the organizations that will be most successful are the ones who break down the barriers between different organizational functions: annual giving, major giving, planned giving, finance, and board leadership – i.e., striving to use creative chemistry to work together as a team.

Join us for a panel discussion where attendees will learn: What is the opportunity for endowment growth like today? What are the risks and how do we navigate them? How do we identify, cultivate, and ask potential donors? What roles do cultivation events play and how do you make them successful? What should we know about donor finances and motivations today? Is now the time for a campaign?

Doing Less, Raising More
Presenter: Anna Schila - Brightside Philanthropy, Lead Consultant

Grounded in behavioral research and real-world case studies, Doing Less, Raising More equips fundraisers with evidence-based strategies to simplify their work for greater efficiency and impact. This session explores the psychological concept of complexity bias—our tendency to add rather than subtract—and its implications for fundraising. You’ll learn how to strategically evaluate your activities, eliminate low-impact efforts, and focus resources on what truly drives results.

Through data-informed insights, hands-on exercises, and examples of successful simplification in action, this workshop provides a framework to streamline fundraising without compromising outcomes. Attendees will leave with a personalized action plan grounded in research, actionable techniques for donor engagement and retention, and a mindset shift toward working smarter, not harder. Whether you're managing a major gift portfolio, leading an annual fund, or organizing events, this session offers the tools to achieve more by doing less.

From Survey to Solutions: Insights from the Ethical Storytelling Report

Presenter: Carly Euler, MBA - MemoryFox, Marketing Director

What do I do if the people I serve have sensitive stories that they might not want to share? This is the question at the crux of ethical storytelling - and it’s one that nonprofit professionals like you consider on a daily basis. In fact, 58% of nonprofit professionals struggle with wanting to collect stories while doing no harm to their community.

To combat this, MemoryFox embarked on an ethical storytelling learning journey that led us to creating two Ethical Storytelling Reports, including insights & advice from 30+ storytelling experts & boots-on-the-ground nonprofit professionals. Join Carly Euler, creator of the Ethical Storytelling Reports, to deep dive the results, as well as nonprofit professionals who have made real ethical storytelling changes & seen real results.

The SPEAR Formula: Embedding IDEA, Change Management, and Sustainability Into Your Culture of Philanthropy

Presenter: Jonathan Meagher-Zayas, MSW, MPA, CFRE, CDP - Equity Warrior Strategies, Founder & Chief Strategist

Have you heard the saying culture eats strategy for breakfast? No matter how talented or organized we are, if our organization or team culture does not support growth, inclusion, and future focus, our success will be limited. Your culture is only as good as the worst behavior it tolerates. As fundraisers, we know that a strong culture of philanthropy is key to revenue generation, community buy-in, and adaptability. In this session, we’ll learn about current fundraising trends we need to be prepared to address, ideologies that influence our ability to change, and introduce the Equity Warrior SPEAR (Systems, Personal Accountability, Education, Advocacy, and Relationships) formula as a framework for action. Attendees will walk away with information, knowledge, and strategies to apply to their current organization. Fundraisers of all levels will learn how they can help create a culture of philanthropy that embeds IDEA, adapts to change, and produces sustainable results.

Facilitated by the leader of AFP Genesee Valley’s LGBTQ+ Affinity Group, the session will focus on strategies for navigating workplace dynamics, advocating for inclusive practices, and shaping the future of fundraising with authenticity and equity at the core. Draw Out Your Bequest Donors with a Match!
Group Discussion Facilitators: Whitney Brice - Whitney Brice Fundraising Consulting, Principal, and Lorna Wright - Genesee Land Trust, Executive Director

Matches and challenges are often used in annual giving and campaigns. "Make a gift today and So-and-So will match your gift!" The Genesee Land Trust tried offering a match to draw out supporters who had put the organization in their will. Once 10 donors put their bequest intentions in writing, a board member would make a sizable donation. It worked! We'll tell you how this strategy came together and how it was implemented, including how this has served to further engage the planned giving donors who participated.
